Truckee

Truckee is the gateway to North Lake Tahoe. Many suburban neighborhoods are sprinkled throughout the area. Although Truckee is not located in Tahoe, it has the small, quaint Donner Lake. A short, 15-minute drive to Kings Beach from Truckee provides easy access to lakefront dining and the pristine waters of Lake Tahoe. Ten minutes from Truckee is the Northstar Ski Resort, where condos and homes are available for purchase within the resort area. Ski-in, ski-out homes come on the market frequently and are a great option for a second or even primary residence. Old Downtown is a historic shopping and dining center in Truckee. During the summer months, farmers’ markets, live music, and other events are hosted regularly. Truckee is on the I-80 corridor, allowing residents a shortened drive time to the Bay Area and Reno. With a slightly lower elevation than Tahoe, Truckee can be suitable for many, although you still get plenty of snow!
